Our HVAC/R program prepares students for work in the HVAC field and gives them the opportunity to earn up to three industry-specific credentials. Our students learn to install, repair, and maintain the operating conditions of heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems while complying with EPA regulations. Instruction includes lab and trade safety, detailed work with control systems, mathematics for HVAC/R, and the development of customer relation skills. We use the NCCER Apprenticeship post-secondary education curriculum and include certification options in CPR/First Aid and OSHA 10. For more information, please contact Richard Nash

Work Based Learning Partner Spotlight

Students interested in developing a marketable skill for use in the building trades are welcome to apply. Our courses align with state and national certification standards and help students earn those coveted certifications. Students gain valuable practical and professional skills in piping and tubing, heat and electricity, and HVAC duct systems that will catapult them toward their career goals. We emphasize “workplace readiness skills” in each of our classes to prepare our student to locate, apply, interview, and secure positions in/as:

Coursework

Students will attend a three-block session every-other-day and earn three credits. All instruction is presented in both theory and hands-on lab activities in accordance with NCCER Apprenticeship curriculum and HVAC/R EPA guidelines. Mr. Richard Nash is our instructor.

Starting in the 2024–2025 school year, students will complete both HVAC/R I and HVAC/R II in one school year.

HVAC/R I/HVAC/R II
In this one year program, students will be prepared to install, repair, and maintain the operating conditions of heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems. Students will work with piping and tubing, study heat and electricity, install duct systems, and learn the necessary skills to comply with EPA regulations. Instruction will also include lab and trade safety, detailed work with control systems, mathematics for HVAC/R, and customer relation skills. Students will be instructed utilizing the NCCER Apprenticeship post-secondary education curriculum. If a student passes all assessments within the Core and HVAC/R modules, they will complete one year of the NCCER post-secondary apprenticeship education program and earn one high school industry credential. Students will also be provided with the opportunity to obtain CPR/First Aid and OSHA 10 certification. Students may have the opportunity to take part in a work-based learning experience during their senior year, after completion of this program. At the completion of program, students will be prepared to enter HVAC/R apprenticeships and/or other careers in the HVAC/R field.
